Hey, what's up? This is Ronin from Scratching Made Easy. In this video, we are going to learn about the drop. Once again, we’ll be starting off with quarter notes. If at any time you are confused, remember to check back to previous videos. That way, you’ll be up to speed with what we are about to cover. Alright, let me tell you how to perform a drop. A drop is executed by releasing the record and pulling it back to the start of the sample. Now that you know how to execute a drop, let’s get started. The tempo is at 85 beats per minute. Here we go!

Rhythm 1

In the first measure, we are going to do a drop on beat one, pull back on beat two, and baby scratch beat three and beat four. In the second measure, we are going to baby scratch four quarter notes. Let me do that one more time. Drop on beat one, pull back on beat two, then baby scratch beat three and beat four. For the second measure, we are going to baby scratch four quarter notes. Now that you know what to do, lets count it off. Here we go!

Rhythm 2

Let’s play that rhythm again, but this time we are going to play it two times for a total of four measures. It may take a little bit of time to execute clean drops, but like with everything else we’ve covered thus far, with practice it will work itself out over time. Here we go!

Rhythm 3

Let’s move onto the third example. But before we start, let’s break it down so you can have an idea as to how the example is to be played. This time, we are going to drop on beats one and three, and then we are going to baby scratch four quarter notes. We are going to play this two times for a total of four measures. Alright, here we go!

Rhythm 4

Let’s move onto the fourth example. Before we start, let’s break it down again so you know how the example is to be played. We are going to drop on beats one and three, and then we are going to baby scratch four quarter notes. We are going to play this four times for a total of eight measures. Alright, here we go!
